The Missouri Council for Activity and Nutrition (MOCAN) is a partner-driven council that is housed in Columbia with MU Extension and is composed of professionals across the state from diverse backgrounds (e.g., educators, government officials, healthcare providers, nonprofit representatives, etc.). Through statewide networking, organizations collaborate to implement policy, systems and environmental (PSE) change to improve physical activity and eating behaviors of Missourians. Members find shared interest and projects by meeting in
MOCAN Workgroups in specific PSE settings. The MOCAN Strategic Plan 2016-2020 includes the goals and objectives framing the work of MOCAN member organizations.
Mission: MOCAN fosters and supports healthy eating and active living through policy and environmental changes to measurably
improve the health and quality of life of Missouri residents.
