Putting People in Touch

Sandra McKinnon, Consumer & Family Economics/Information Technology Specialist

Are you part of one of the thousands of community-based health, education and human service resources serving Missourians? Would you like to improve the connection between your agency and the public you serve?

Community Connection can help you do your job better.

The Vision of Community Connection -

Putting People in Touch
Community Connection puts people in touch with information about state and local services via the World Wide Web.

Easy to Store
It is easy for agencies, schools and other human service groups to explain what they offer.

Easy to Find
It is easy for citizens to find the services agencies offer. It also make it easy for agencies to make referrals.

Easy Access
Community Connection is directly available to anyone with Internet access. Anyone without access can get help with a phone call to a local library, extension center, a community information network or ParentLink.

No Charges
Neither the agencies that post their information on the system nor the people who find the agency information have to pay anything to use Community Connection.

A Central Source with Decentralized Control
Community Connection is a central source for information about services anywhere in Missouri. At the same time, it decentralizes control of the information. Agencies control their own information.

Hot Links
Links to agency home pages and e-mail address are directly available to users.

Mapping
Community Connection includes links to show users exactly where agencies are located and how to get there.

Searching
Searches may be done by name, key words, geographical region and organizational networks.

Building Partnerships
Community Connection strengthens local partnerships through workshops, training and sharing of information.
