Member Resources
Debbie said that she needed to contact new staff members.  The by-laws will be checked for the policy of the deferment of state dues.  One person in the Missouri delegation should be eligible for a scholarship to the national meeting.  The maximum amount was reported to be $50 per member as shared by Glenda Kinder.

Public Affairs
Nancy Flood was not present on the conference and had no report.

By-Laws
Susan Mills-Gray did not e-mail a report.  Glenda Kinder shared that the by-laws on the web should be current.

 2002 Site Coordinator

There will be a conference call with Chris Kniep and the planning committee on August 23rd.  We will be looking at how the entire membership can be involved in the conference.  Any individuals who have business contacts for contribution should contact Tammy Beason and Carol Bozworth.  Delegate bags and hospitality bags still need items for Kansas City.

Volunteers are needed from all staff and Family and Community Education members.

Workshops on the move will be half-day format and concurrent sessions are proposed simultaneously.  National will need to approve this proposal.

President-Elect
Rebecca Travnichek asked if anyone was interested in a national office.  There will be a focus group discussion on national leadership on Monday morning, October 1, 2001 in Portland.  At least one person needs to attend.  Rebecca Travnichek and Glenda Kinder are our voting delegates to the convention and anyone interested in the leadership focus group or officer position should contact Rebecca Travnichek.

There are only four time slots for concurrent sessions.  Volunteers are needed for concurrent session hostess and help in registration.  Two volunteers are needed with one person to introduce the speaker and another to keep the time clock, etc.

For the second year, UMEA luncheon and the MEAFCS luncheon will be a joint one.  The place has yet to be announced.  Joint luncheon registration will be forthcoming.

Unfinished Business
MACAA will be having a Silent Auction at Annual Conference.  We need to support them with donations of items as well as purchasing.  They supported our association last year and so let’s return the favor.

Teresa Mareschal has sent the list of the membership of those attending the meeting in Portland.

Kathy Dothage shared that we will need people at both the sales table and the exhibit table on Tuesday, October 2, 2001.  Please contact Kathy if you could be of any assistance.

New Business
President Burke shared that the place for the joint luncheon has not been secured because of construction.

Jinny Hopp asked for ideas to increase readership of newsletter.  She asked for more photos and shared the idea of an incentive or prize hidden in the newsletter.

The conference call was adjourned with the next MEAFCS meeting being held during Annual Conference on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 after the joint luncheon.

Respectfully submitted,
Mary Gosche, Secretary
