MEAFCS General Membership Meeting

                                                April 11, 2006 

 

 

The meeting was called to order by Maude Kelly at 12:43 P.M. at Plaza 900 on the Columbia Campus.  Those present for the meeting were: Carole Bozworth, Janet LaFon, Rebecca Travnichek, Marsha Alexander, Pat Snodgrass, Kathy Dothage, Phyllis Flanigan, Mary Gosche, Jane Hunter, Maude Kelly, Diana Milne, Bev Pfeiffer, Betty Reinsch, Leanne Spengler, Lisa Wallace, Wendy Brumbaugh, Saralee Jamieson, Debby Whiston, Terry Egan, Karen Elliott, Janet Hackert, Glenda Kinder, Judy Lueders, Susan Mills-Gray, Vera Nichols, Tammy Roberts, and Mary Schroepfer.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were unavailable.  Rebecca Travnichek presented the treasurer’s report for October 2005 to September 2006.  The total income was $6,245.78.  Expenses from the Hurricane Katrina donation and JCEP workshop totaled $501.84, and total expenses for the period were $2,738.14.  Net income was $3,507.64.  Total assets were $11,696.73.  A motion was made to accept the report by Carole Bozworth and seconded by Kris Jenkins.

 

President Maude Kelly and Karen Elliott reported on the trip to JCEP.  Wendy Brumbaugh reported that the UMEA  Executive Board will be meeting with Interim Director of Extension, Jo Turner, to discuss a Missouri Galaxy, and UMEA will be looking at comments on the new marketing campaign.  Susan Mill-Gray talked about the new reporting system, and explained some of the unique features of the new system.  President Elect Karen Elliot reported that she will attend the PILD conference in Washington, D.C.. 

 

Committee Reports

 

Phyllis Flanigan reported that there were applicants in six categories for Awards and Recognition.

 

Sharon Hancock, Professional Development Chair, was not able to attend the meeting, but Mary Gosche reported that it looks like the career ladder will be implemented.

 

Member Resource Chair, Wendy Brumbaugh, reported that she has been contacting the potential members that are not MEAFCS members.

 

Jane Hunter, Public Affairs director, suggested that the members look at the “Living Well” web site.

 

Kathy Dothage, NEAFCS Secretary, suggested that members consider running for a national office. Applications are available on line.  Registration is currently open for the NEAFCS Conference to be held in October in Denver. The States Night Out will probably be on Tuesday.   The 2007 conference will be held in St. Paul, MN.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 1:20 P.M.
