Two award winners were recognized at the national level at the Galaxy meeting. Mary Gosche was honored as our Distinguished Service recipient.  Glenda Kinder was recognized as third place awardee at the Regional level for the Communications Award with Educational Technology.

The process of judging applications was handled a little differently this year.  Because of budget constraints and in trying to conserve our resources, the Board suggested application materials be shared electronically as much as possible.  This created a little bit of confusion as not all materials were submitted electronically.  Matching up all the electronic files with hard copies files was not always the best way to handle them, but improvements will be made to the process in the coming year.

The Professional Achievement Award also drew a bit of confusion. The award is specific to Missouri. Its criteria for judging are very outdated. Work is being done to update the award’s wording and criteria to correspond to today’s Extension.

The Awards and Recognition committee had some excellent applications to judge this year. The committee did a great job of judging and critiquing the projects submitted – and found all applications to be exemplary.  We hope to see more members submit an application reflecting the outstanding work that is being done statewide.

Respectfully submitted, Janet M. Hackert Awards and Recognition Committee Chair
