

Join the Missouri Master Naturalist™ team
The Missouri Master Naturalist program is an adult community-based education and volunteer service program designed to promote awareness and citizen stewardship of natural resources. Affiliated with the University of Missouri Extension and the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), the program began in the spring of 2004. The Hi Lonesome Chapter was formed in 2008 and is based in Cole Camp, Missouri. Chapter members are residents of Benton, Pettis, Hickory and Moniteau Counties.

Annual Missouri Tree Farm Conference,
8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. John and Stacy Heckmann Tree Farm in Hermann, Missouri. Conference
will feature a silent auction, local vendors and booths, refreshments in the
morning, lunch in the afternoon and exciting tours. Tour topics include but are
not limited to glade restoration, deer and turkey management, amphibian pond
development, woodland thinning and burning, or the opportunity for a self-guided
tour. Live demonstrations, exhibits, and displays include American Stave
Company, Missouri Walnut Council, Missouri Tree Farm System, Missouri Forest
Products Association, Forest & Woodland Association, Forrest Keeling Nursery,
Missouri Consulting Foresters, Directional Tree Felling, NRCS Plant Materials
Program, and Skid Loader Tree Shear.
Registration deadline is May 28th. Registration fee
is $35 for adults, $12 for children 6-12, children under 6 Free.

- Invasive Plant Management Workshop, (Qualifies for
advanced training) Warrensburg 5:30 - 4:30 p.m.
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has scheduled a free invasive
plant management workshop that will be held at the Trails Regional Library 432
North Holden Street.
The workshop
will focus on identification and control of aggressive plant species that are
currently a problem or may become a problem for local
landowners. Learn to recognize invasive
plant species and understand why control is needed.
Both urban and rural landowners will find this free workshop useful as
invasive plants continue to spread into a variety of habitats.
