The meeting was called to order by President Tim Schnakenberg at 7:20 p.m.
Special recognition was given for the attendance of: Beverly Coberly, Dave Baker, Janet Kline, Karma Metzgar, Mark Stillwell, Rick Mammen, and Jesse Shannon. Jesse is the “young” son of Kent and Marcia Shannon.

A motion was moved, seconded, and approved to accept the prepared agenda for the meeting. Parman distributed a copy of the minutes from last year’s annual fall meeting. A motion was moved, seconded, and approved to accept the minutes as presented.
Kevin distributed the association’s financial statements (attached) and presented the treasurer’s report. Kevin reported we have 74 members. Kevin reported he had receipted membership dues totaling $4,880; other income of $291.56; and disbursed funds totaling $4,668.42; resulting in a net increase of funds amounting to $503.14. Additionally, Kevin presented a projected budget for 2006. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the treasurer’s report and to file the financial reports for later audit.
President Schnakenberg next provided background information regarding the Ag Leadership Award and introduced this year’s recipients.

Matt Herring reported this year’s Achievement Award (AA) had been presented to Todd Lorenz and the Distinguished Service Award (DSA) had been presented to Tim Schnakenberg. Other members recognized for having made presentations, exhibiting posters, and accepting leadership responsibilities at this year’s NACAA meeting in Buffalo were: Melvin Brees – Search for Excellence award and Mary Sobba for her “Annie’s Project” poster. President Schankenberg additionally recognized the support and contribution Dave Baker had made during the past year and at the NACAA - AM/PIC (National Association of County Agricultural Agents – Annual Meeting/Professional Improvement Conference).
Mary Sobba reported the nomination committee had secured two nominees for the office of secretary: Amie Schleicher and Mick Gilliam. No additional nominations were made from the floor. Following a count of the ballots, Amie was announced as the 2006 secretary for MAEP.
Todd reported for the MAEP futuring committee. The members of this committee are: Don Day, Amanda Cook, Karisha Devlin, Eldon Cole, Melvin Brees, Kendra Graham, Mary Sobba, Dave Whitson, and the MAEP officers. The following are areas of special interest they have been investigating and discussing:
1. Developmental sponsorships
2. Facilitate having two MAEP face-to-face meeting per year
3. Encouragement of life member involvement in MAEP activities
4. Marketing – (creating logo, brochure, and E-Good News)
5. Membership development
President Schnakenberg led a discussion of securing financial sponsorships and the desire to utilize the funds for a spring meeting.
Mary is one of 10 people serving on the NACAA futuring committee. Mary reported they are investigating many of the same issues identified by the MAEP futuring committee. Mary indicates the national futuring committee will report their work to the NACAA board in 2006.
Todd reported on the “pinnacle award” being encourage by NACAA president Mickey Cummins. This award is to provide recognition to long-tenured extension staff. The Jack Daniels company is being cultivated as a sponsor of this award. One nomination for the pinnacle award would be made by each state and each region would then select one person to receive the pinnacle award for that region. The award would be presented at the NACAA annual meeting.
Stan Moore (from Michigan), the NC regional director for NACAA presented the membership with an update on NACAA activities and organization.
Chuck Schwartau (Minnesota) is our NC vice director.
JCEP (Joint Council of Extension Professionals) meeting will be held in St. Louis, MO. Dates will be February 28th to March 2, 2006.
PILD (Public Issues Leadership Development) conference will be held April 24th to April 27, 2006. However, the location is yet to be announced.
Stan reported professional development is a major focus of the NACAA annual meeting and that it also provides an opportunity to recognize the great work done by extension staff. Stan reported that Missouri was 2nd in attendance total at the 2005 AM/PIC in Buffalo. The 2006 AM/PIC will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Stan also reported that Scott Hawbaker’s contact as the NACAA executive director has been renewed for another 3 years.
President Schnakenberg led an overview of the 2005 AM/PIC.

Mark Stewart shared comments on the livestock pre-conference tour.
Tim Schnakenberg shared comments on the direct marketing conference tour.
Jennifer Schutter shared comments on the fruit production conference tour.
Todd Lorenz shared comments on the trees and shrubs conference tour.
Sam Angima shared comments on the vegetable production conference tour.
First-times gave brief comments on their experiences at the 2005 AM/PIC.
President Schnakenberg reported on the 2005 PILD conference.

Dave Baker provided an administrative program update. Additionally, he recognized the quality of programming in Missouri and encourage staff to submit their work for national recognition.
President Schnakenberg turned the gavel over to President-elect Lorenz.
