MU Extension 2017 Awards

Judy Stallman receiving award from Marshall Stewart Judith Stallman received the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Achievement, on-campus faculty.  Judy is a professor of agricultural and applied economics, rural sociology, and public affairs.  Since 2002, Judy has provided critical extension program leadership on state and local public finance issues.
David Burton receiving award from Marshall Stewart David Burton received the County Program Director Excellence Award. David is a civic communications specialist in Greene County, and served as the Greene County CPD during two challenging periods of transition.
Metro Food Systems Team Kara Lubischer was one of the recipients of the Extension Teamwork Award, bestowed on the members of the Metropolitan Food Systems team.  Kara was formerly a community development specialist in St. Louis County.
Noel Project team Kathy Macomber was a part of the team receiving the Vice Chancellor's Diversity Award, which went to the Noel Project this year.  Kathy is a community development specialist in Barton County.

 

 

 

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MACEDEP 2017 Awards

  • The Education Technology Team Award was presented to the Missouri Flood Information Team, which includes MACEDEP members Beverly Maltsberger, Conne Burnham, and David Burton.
  • The Community Resource Development Education Award was given to the Strengthening Economies Today (SET) tea, including MACEDEP members Sharon Gulick, Dean Larkin, Pat Curry, and Richard Proffer.

Additional awards and honors

  • Kathy Macomber received the Early Career Service Award from Epsilon Sigma Phi, Alpha Tau Chapter.
  • Beverly Maltsberger received the Distinguished Career Award and the Continued Excellence Award from Epsilon Sigma Phi, Alpha Tau Chapter.
  • David Burton received the Outstanding Program Award from the University of Missouri Extension Association (UMEA) for "The Great Game of Business."  Beverly Maltsberger received third place in the category for her work with EDEN Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD).
  • NACDEP awarded the National Excellence in Teamwork Award to the multi-state team the developed the "Community Organizations Active in Disaster Manual."  Bev Maltsberger was one of the Missouri team members.

  • Georgia Stuart-Simmons presented at the 2015 Epsilon Sigma Phi conference
  • Michele Kroll published a four-part blog series on educational technology for the national eXtension initiative

Leadership

  • Jackie Rasmussen was recently appointed as an Ex-Officio member to the NASBITE International Board of Governors, and will serve as a member of the board’s Executive Committee for the next year.  NASBITE International is national association that supports the career development of trade professionals and practitioners interested in international trade.   
  • Connie Mefford is completing her term as the North-Central Regional Representative to the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP)
  • Amy Patillo is the new President of UMEA
  • Sarah Hultine Massengale is serving as Secretary of ESP, Alpha Tau Chapter
  • Mary Leuci has completed her term as President of ESP, Alpha Tau Chapter

Professional development of note

  • Kara Lubischer and Kathy Macomber were members of the 2015 National Extension Leadership Development program
  • Richard Proffer completed year one of the Midwest Community Development Institute

In addition to the above, nearly half of MACEDEP members are serving in leadership roles in UMEA, including regional representatives to the board, committee members, and more.  MACEDEP members are also contributing to the MU Extension organization -- serving on thematic teams, strategic plan goal teams, and the program reporting work group; adding their expertise to each of these efforts.
