News From MACEDEP Members

2017 NACDEP / CDS Awards

Community development specialists Connie Mefford and Beverly Maltsberger received honors at the recent joint national conference of the Community Development Society and the National Association for Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP), June 11-14 in Big Sky, Montana.

Mefford received NACDEP’s North Central Region Distinguished Career Award. Beverly Maltsberger received a regional and national award from NACDEP for cross-category programming for her involvement with the Northwest Missouri Water Festivals.

Scholarship and Leadership Notes

  • Also at the joint national NACDEP/CDS conference, DeNae Gitonga and John Gulick were part of a multistate team that presented a pre-conference workshop on extension’s role in workforce development.  Conference workshop presenters included Maltsberger, Jeff Barber, Sharon Gulick, Steve Jeanetta, Michele Kroll, Dean Larkin, Mary Simon Leuci, Kara Lubischer, Lisa Overholser, Richard Proffer and Claire Wolff.  In addition, Barber, Gitonga and Steve Henness were recognized for outstanding posters.
     
  • Tish Johnson, Kathy Macomber and Claire Wolff were accepted into the National eXtension Initiative - Diversity & Inclusion Issue Corps.  
     
  • Amy Patillo is currently serving as the chair of the University of Missouri Extension Association (UMEA).
