Achievement Day - 1st
Saturday in June (all ages) - Allows members to participate in
several learning activities. Blue ribbon winners in
selected categories may be chosen to represent Jasper County at
Regional Achievement Day held in July in Springfield. Top
participants in Public Speaking will have the honor of representing
Jasper County at the State Contests. Categories include:
Judging &
Demonstrating, Personal Development, Fashion Revue, Public
Speaking, Clover Kid Sharing, and Power Point Presentation. |

Awards Banquet - An
opportunity for the Jasper County 4-H Parents' Association to
give recognition to 4-H members and volunteer leaders for their
outstanding participation and accomplishments achieved in the
Jasper County 4-H program. The program recognizes
outstanding project members of the year, top club officers, and
special recognition of members. The basis of these awards are
selected from the End of Year Report
forms. For a list of awards,
click here. 4-H members participating in 4-H events
and/or 4-H trips are also recognized. Volunteers who have
served 5, 10, 15 and more years are also given recognition. |

Bright & Bold - (all ages)
- Workshops for leaders and members in Jasper County along with
other counties in the Southwest Region. At these workshops,
families participate in officer training, leader training,
information sessions, and general sharing sessions.

Fashion Revue - 1st Sunday
in June - Members enrolled in 4-H clothing projects - An
opportunity for members to show off their garments. The
classes are Clothes You Make, Junior - ages 13 & under,
Clothes You Make, Senior
- ages 14 & older; Clothes You Buy, Knitted
Garments, and Crocheted Garments. Category winners are
selected to compete at the state level. |

Jasper County Youth Fair -
Provides an opportunity for youth to showcase their completed
projects. 4-H members meeting club and county requirements may exhibit at
the Jasper County Youth Fair held in Carthage MO in July.
It is required that you have at least six hours of project
studies by the project leader and attend at least 51% of all
club meetings. Clubs may have additional club
requirements. The Jasper County Youth Fair is open to
Jasper County youth organizations only. |

Making the Best Better -
(all ages) - Workshops for leaders and members in Jasper County
along with other counties in the Southwest Region. At
these workshops, families participate in officer training, leader
training, information sessions, and general sharing sessions.

Regional 4-H
Events

4-H Camps - (all ages) -
Camp
Smokey, Roaring River State Park - summer.
Clover Kids
Camp - parent and child spend two days and one night
together at camp. Teen Camp - members 13 and older have
fun learning leadership skills which will be used if chosen to
be counselors at member camp. Member Camp - three-day,
two-night. Members 8-12 years old stay in dormitory style cabins, help with kitchen duty, hike,
swim, and experience hands-on workshops.

Ozark Empire Fair
- July - Springfield. Members earning blue ribbon at the
Jasper County Youth Fair may be selected to compete. |

R.A.T.T.
(Regional Action-packed Trip for Teens) -
(12 years
old and above) - 1-day trip, location varies - spring. A
"just for fun" trip planned and sponsored by the Regional Teen
Council. Past trips have been to Kansas City, St. Louis, and
Branson and have included ice skating, a movie at the IMAX
theater and a ride in the Gateway Arch. Fee is dependent on the
tour and distance to the destination.

Regional
Achievement Day -
(all ages) - Springfield - summer. Members receiving a
blue ribbon for a demonstration, judging, fashion review, public
speaking, or personal development at County Achievement may be
considered to represent Jasper County. Categories and number of
participants are determined by the regional staff. |

Regional 4-H Teen Council -
(12 years
old and above) - ongoing. Council members help with
Regional Achievement Day and the Ozark Empire Fair and plan
social activities, such as the R.A.T.T. trip for 4-H'ers from
around the region. While all teens in the region are encouraged
to participate, each county has two voting members on the
Council. Meetings are held quarterly. |

Regional Shooting Sports
Contest - (open to all members enrolled in Shooting Sports
projects) - summer.

State 4-H Events

Citizenship
Youth Forum
(must have
completed the 8th grade or be at least 14 years old) - 3 days, 2
nights in Jefferson City - June. The action packed
event provides participants a chance to learn about the Missouri
legislative and judicial processes. Current legislators will be
available to assist and teach for the legislative track. The
media portion of the workshop involves youth reporting the
activities of state government through the use of print, video
and radio. All workshop activities use a hands-on approach to
help participants.
Members may attend as many times as they wish. Registration cost
varies. Transportation is generally
arranged through the Southwest Region. The Jasper County 4-H Parents' Association pays ½ of the
registration fee and all the transportation fee. |

Citizenship
Washington Focus
- (ages
14-19) - 10-day trip to Washington, D.C. - summer.
While in D.C., members stay at the National 4-H Center, tour
national historic sites and government facilities, meet with
members of Congress, and learn how the legislature operates.
Side trips to Mount Vernon, New York, and Gettysburg are often
included in the trip. Cost varies. The Parents' Association pays
½ of the registration fee and all the transportation fee.

Kansas City
Global Conference - (15 years and older) -The annual
conference provides opportunities for youth from
Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and South
Dakota to explore careers, technology, environment and
cultural diversity in a global society. Hands-on and interactive
sessions involve youth in exploring issues central to their
lives, families and communities – thus broadening their
understanding of the world around them. Members
may attend as many times as they wish.
Registration
cost varies. Transportation is generally arranged through
the Southwest Region. The Jasper
County 4-H Parents' Association pays ½ of the registration fee
and all the transportation fee. |

Missouri 4-H Dairy Cow Camp - (4-H members
enrolled in dairy) -
Springfield MO - spring. Participants will be guided
through the basics and finer points of fitting dairy cattle. |

Missouri State
Fair - August at Sedalia MO. Blue ribbon winners
at the Ozark Empire Fair (OEF) may be chosen to exhibit. |

State 4-H
Congress
(ages
14-19) - 3 days, 2 nights in Columbia - June.
Members stay in dorms at the University of Missouri and
participate in a variety of leadership, project, and career
workshops. They enjoy listening to motivational speakers and
participating in social events. At Congress, 4-H'ers will elect
the members of the State 4-H Council. Members may attend
Congress as many times as they wish. Registration cost varies.
Transportation is generally arranged through the Southwest
Region. The Jasper County 4-H
Parents' Association pays ½ of the registration fee and all the
transportation fee. |

14- 17) - Columbia - ongoing. Plan and present
workshops at Teen Conference
and State Congress. In addition,
members of the Council facilitate state events such as
Fashion
Revue,
Public Speaking, and
Shooting Sports. Council members act
as advisors to regional and county teen councils, and aid the
state staff in planning state-wide events. To become a member of
the Council, 4-H'ers must complete an application form, undergo
an interview, and be elected as a Regional Representative.
Regional Representatives having served at least one term
on the council may be considered for a state officer position.
Regional Representatives and state officers are elected during
State Congress.

Fashion Revue
- Saturday
- Columbia - September. State 4-H Fashion Revue is
a competitive event for youth enrolled in 4-H clothing and
textile projects. As a part of these projects, youth learn about
and practice clothing construction, consumerism, appearance,
grooming habits, clothing selections and more. Youth have the
opportunity to demonstrate what they've learned during county
and state 4-H Fashion Revues.
Competition categories include, Clothes You Make - junior (13
years old and under); Clothes You Make - senior (14 years old
and above); Clothes You Buy; Knitting; and Crocheting. Members
must be enrolled in the appropriate clothing, knitting, or
crocheting project to participate. Jasper County representatives
are selected during the Jasper County 4-H Fashion Revue.
Because participants have been selected to represent Jasper
County at the state level, the Jasper County 4-H Parents’
Association pays entry fees, group transportation, and group
lodging. |

years old and under) and a three- or four-member senior team (14
years old and above) represent Jasper County at the state

Jasper County 4-H Parents’ Association pays entry fees, group
transportation, and group lodging.

selected at the county public speaking event to represent Jasper
County at the state event. Members do not need to be enrolled in
the public speaking project to participate in the event. Because
participants have been selected to represent Jasper County at
the state level, the Jasper County 4-H Parents’ Association pays
entry fees, group transportation, and group lodging.

- Saturday
- Millersburg - September. Members enrolled in the Shooting
Sports project may be selected to represent Jasper County at the
state event by accruing points in local events. Because
participants have been selected to represent Jasper County at
the state level, the Jasper County 4-H Parents’ Association pays
entry fees, group transportation and group lodging.

State Teen
Conference
- (ages
11-13) - 2 days, 1 night in Columbia - February. Members
participate in get-acquainted activities; take part in
leadership, communication, and community service workshops;
enjoy a movie/games/dance gala; and tour the University of
Missouri campus. Registration cost varies. Transportation is
generally arranged through the Southwest Region. The Jasper County 4-H Parents' Association pays ½ of
the registration fee and all the transportation fee.

National 4-H Events
 |
National 4-H Conference
- (14
years old and above) - 7-day trip to Washington, DC - April.
A working conference under the leadership of a
planning committee of youth and adults and National 4-H
Headquarters staff. This event brings together youth, volunteer
leaders, state, and county Extension staff members from across
the United States, its territories, and the Canadian Provinces.
Selection
of delegates is based on application form available from the
Extension office and delegate must have been selected as a
National Congress delegate in the previous year. Cost is paid by
the state. |

National 4-H Congress
- (ages 14
- 19) - 4-day trip - location varies -
Thanksgiving weekend. Attending National Congress is the highest
award a 4-H member may receive. Members compete for the award by
completing the appropriate form available from the Extension
office. Applications are first evaluated and members interviewed
at the regional level. Applicants receiving the highest scores
at the regional level are then evaluated at the state level.
Approximately 35 of the state’s top scoring members will be
invited to a personal interview. Of those, about 20 members will
be selected to represent Missouri at National Congress. The
Jasper County 4-H Parents' Association pays ½ of the
registration fee and all the transportation fee.
