Successful Aging Workshops MEMORY This program will focus on how memory works, how it might be affected by age, and how we can actively work to improve it. CREATIVITY This program will help participants dispel the myths of creativity, discover their own creative abilities, and enable them to tap into their creative potential. ACTIVITY/LEISURE/VOLUNTEERISM This program will help participants recognize the types, benefits and scope of activities and determine ways these can apply to their own lives. NUTRITION/EXERCISE Provides information about the importance of antioxidants, calcium, fiber, grains, and water in diet and why healthy choices can contribute to feelings of vitality and self-reliance. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE Through a variety of activities, participants will identify the characteristics and meaning of emotional intelligence, areas of strengths and weaknesses and how to apply emotional intelligence to later life. SEXUALITY/INTIMACY Participants will have more understanding about how the normal processes of aging effect the desire of intimacy and sexuality and resources to help handle these changes successfully. WORK This program will provide information about the trends in the employment of older people and strategies for older people wishing to enter the workforce and for employers to retain and effectively utilize older workers. RETIREMENT Retirement is a very complex issue. This program will emphasize retirement facts, phases of retirement, and variables that affect successful adjustment to retirement. RELATIONSHIPS Relationships in later life can be a challenge. This program will help participants learn about how relationships and friendships play roles in older people's lives and identify skills for relational competence. SPIRITUALITY There are many ways to support the human spirit and assist older people in learning and exercising skills to feed and nurture their spirit. The program will offer participants vital skills to support the healing and nurturing of the aging human spirit.
