The Jackson County 4-H Foundation has once again granted
funds to be used to further grow the 4-H program in Jackson County.
These
funds are restricted to specific awards designed to give some incentive to
grow our program locally. Funds will be available for leaders to apply for
as outlined below. The general rules that apply to all of the awards are:

Club
and/or county-wide project leader must be recognized by the 4-H Office.
They must have their forms turned in, dues paid, etc.

Applications can be made for more than 2 awards however any one club or
county- wide project leader can only receive 2 awards in a given
year.

Applications must be completed for the desired award (s). Application
available at the 4-H
Office.

Applicants will be required to report to the 4-H Council, and the 4-H
Foundation, or perhaps
both as specified
below.

The
“Growth Incentive Committee” will determine and award the funds based on
the applications received. If all requirements are met, applications
will be processed on a first come, first served basis.

All
decisions of the committee are final.
-
Application deadline is September 1 to the Blue Springs
4-H Office.

Club
Mentoring Grant
There are six awards possible in the amount of $50 each. The
intent is to encourage the older, established clubs to help new clubs learn
the ropes. Award will be paid out in two payments as outlined below
assuming application is approved.

Mentoring club must be previously established.

New
club must be newly formed this 4-H year.
-
If the
new club is still active at Fair time the mentoring club will receive ½
of the award ($25.)

Mentoring club is to report to the 4-H Council at the end of the year
regarding its mentoring experience - the situations members saw, what
they learned, how it turned out, etc.
-
If the
new club renews the following year the mentoring club will receive the
other ½ of the award ($25) at Achievement Night.
County-Wide
Project Support Grant
There
are four awards possible in the amount of $100 each. The intent is to help
the county-wide project leaders with supplies and expenses to support the
projects and encourage new participation.

Must be
designated as a county-wide project by the 4-H Office. Examples of
county-wide projects are Photography, Shooting Sports, etc.

Project
leader must report to the 4-H Foundation on how the support enabled them
to continue and grow the county-wide
project.
-
Application must be made in advance of spending. Once approved, the
funds would be drawn.
-
Proof
of expense must be given to Treasurer and must be project related.
Decision of Treasurer on reimbursement eligibility is
final.
County-Wide
Project Capital Support Grant
There are two awards possible in the amount of $200 each. The intent is to
help the county-wide project leaders with capital expenditures needed to
support the projects and encourage new participation.

Must be
designated as a county-wide project by the 4-H Office. Examples of
county-wide projects are Photography, Shooting Sports, Cake Decorating,
etc.

Project
leader must report to the 4-H Foundation on how the support enabled them
to continue and grow the county-wide
project.
-
Application must be made in advance of spending, once approved, the
funds would be drawn against.
-
Item
must be of capital in nature, having a life span of more than one year.
Example are cake decorating equipment, tools, etc.
-
Project
leader agrees equipment is to be used solely for the 4-H
program.
-
Equipment should be marked as the property of 4-H (4-H office has
engraver).
-
Proof
of expense must be given to Treasurer and must be project related.
Decision of Treasurer on reimbursement eligibility is
final.

Due to
the large dollar amount, a county-wide project can only be eligible for
this award once every two years unless a unique need exists and there
are no other applications for this award.
Club-to-Club
Workshops Grant
There are two awards possible in the amount of $150 each. Each $150 award
would be split between the two clubs holding club-to-club workshops. The
intent is to share projects and foster a connection between the equine clubs
and the non-equine clubs. Award will be given once all requirements are met
and application has been approved.

One
club must be an equine club whose main focus is on equine and one club
must be a non-equine club whose main focus is other than horses.
-
The
clubs must hold at least three meetings in which they share their
projects and work on them together.
-
These
meetings must be a minimum of one hour (but could be longer) during
which each of the two clubs will lead project work for half that
time.
-
Each
club must learn something from the other club.
-
A
representative from each club will report jointly to the 4-H Foundation
telling what was done and what they learned/accomplished.
New Club Starter Grants
There are two awards possible in the amount of $75 each for clubs with less
than 10 members and three awards possible in the amount of $150 each for
clubs with 10 or more members. The intent is to help new clubs get started
by providing assistance with book purchases, paying dues for members who
cannot afford them, etc.

Application must be made in advance of spending.

Once
approved, the funds would be drawn.

Club
must have held three meetings before being allowed to withdraw funds.

Proof
of expense must be given to Treasurer and must be club related.
Decision of

Treasurer on reimbursement eligibility is final.

Club
must report to 4-H Foundation on how the grant assisted their club
CLUB MEMBERSHIP INCREASE GRANT
There are 6 awards possible in the amount of $50 each. The intent is to
encourage clubs to actively seek new members to increase the size of their
clubs. Award to be paid out at Achievement Night.
Club
must increase its membership by 20% more than the number of members at the
start of the year. Increase must be accomplished by Fair time. New members
must renew the following year.
