2006 Building Better Child Care

Children need a nurturing environment to learn and grow. Early childhood professionals and

caregivers play an important role in teaching children in a variety of settings. “Their level of

training and quality of work with children can have a direct impact on children’s social skills,

language development and learning,” says Dr. Nina Chen, University of Missouri Extension human

development specialist. To enhance the skills of early childhood professionals and caregivers,

University of Missouri Extension is offering a Building Better Child Care series of workshops. The

2006 training schedule is:

 

Feb. 23                     How to Work With Active Children

March 23                   Communicable Diseases

April 6                       Coping With Behavior Concerns

May 4                       Teaching Children Self-Control

Sept.  21                  Working With Special Needs Children

Oct. 5                       Is Block Play Really Important?

Nov. 2                      Teaching Children About Nutrition

Dec. 7                       Parents: Friends or Foes?

 

All the workshops will be from 6 pm to 8 pm at the University of Missouri Extension Center, 1501 NW Jefferson St., Blue Springs, Mo. Participants will receive 2 clock hours per workshop upon completion; 0.2 CEUs are available. The registration fee is $15 per workshop or $100 for eight workshops.
