Taking Care of You: Body, Mind, Spirit

Attempts to be physically active, eat better or other steps towards healthier living can be pushed out of reach by life’s demands and responsibilities. Trying to meet the needs and expectations of others leads to stress and burn out. Taking Care of YOU offers practical, effective strategies and experiences to deal with life challenges through small group discussion, self-refection and activities.

Strong Women, Healthy Hearts

In this program you will learn heart healthy eating patterns and weight control techniques. Topics include portion control, menu planning, food tasting, and approaches to a healthy diet. You will also engage in low-impact walking, working up to 30 minutes. This program is meant for women 40 years of age and older who have been mostly or completely inactive for the past few years and are interested in improving their health, vitality, and well-being.

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is a community-based program which assists participants in maintaining quality of life when faced with chronic medical conditions.

Tai Chi for Arthritis

(Part One)

Tai Chi for Arthritis helps improve flexibility and muscle strength, increase heart/lung activity, align posture, improve balance, and integrate the mind and body. Almost anyone with or without arthritis, and with almost any physical condition, can learn this program to improve health and quality of life. It is an easy, safe, effective exercise and supported by the Arthritis Foundation of America.

Tai Chi for Health

(Part One)

Tai Chi for Health is easy to learn for relaxation, strengthening mind and body, and improving health and fitness. The gentle movements of Tai Chi have been shown to improve coordination, balance, flexibility, muscle strength, and posture. Tai Chi helps create a sense of well-being while facilitating mind/body awareness and reducing stress.

How healthy is the air inside your home? You cannot see, smell, or taste many indoor air pollutants. Yet there are sometimes dangerous hazards inside the home that can make occupants sick. This two session class will increase awareness and knowledge of health risks in the home. It will also encourage informed decision making and behavior changes to create safe and healthy home environments.
