4-H Membership
4-H kids in Iron County learn by
doing. Traditionally, clubs helped kids learn about
livestock, cooking, sewing, woodworking and other practical
skills.
These projects are still offered,
and still popular, but new projects have joined the line-ups.
4-H'ers now enjoy computer projects, GPS/GIS work, veterinary
science, scrapbooking and many other learning opportunities.
How to Join
It doesn't matter where you live, 4-H is open to all young
people. Whether you live in the country or the city, you can
participate in 4-H.
Joining 4-H is easy! Call the Iron County University of Missouri Extension Office, at 573-546-7515. Debra
Henk, 4-H Youth Specialist, will be able to guide you to 4-H
opportunities.
There is a small fee to join 4-H. Check with the extension
office for details. In addition, some projects may require a small
investment to get started, and there may be charges for materials
or special trips.
The program year is from September 1 until August 31.

One Club in One County
A youth can be a member of only one club in one county in
Missouri. To have access to additional educational opportunities,
a member may attend project meeting in another club or county-wide
project meetings, but they must enroll all their projects in their
home club. This policy does not prevent a 4-H member from
enrolling in a school enrichment program.
