How Can Our Community Start an Internet Master Program?

Do you think your community could benefit from the University Outreach and Extension Internet Master program? If yes, then we would like to work with you to develop one.

Advisory committee: Each program requires an appropriate advisory committee of individuals from the community. Potential committee members include: librarians, educators, representatives from a community information network, representatives from University Outreach and Extension and other agencies, and private citizens. The Internet Master advisory committee is asked to contribute the following:

  • Program coordination -- recommend when and how and Internet Master program should be started in the community. Help select the location and time. Recommend local experts that could contribute to the program. Suggest and contact local sponsors.
  • Marketing -- Identify potential Internet Master candidates. Recommend methods for marketing the Internet Master program.
  • Applicant screening -- Help screen applications and select class participants.
  • Volunteer development -- Help Internet Masters identify appropriate volunteer activities.

Businesses and agencies can sponsor the Internet Master program by:

  • Distributing information about the Internet Master program in the community
  • Cooperating with Internet Masters to set up educational programs
  • Contributing materials and services needed for the Internet Masters to do educational activities
  • Participating in other ways to support the Internet Master program.
