Title: Emotional Intelligence – Its Importance in Work Relationships
Course ID: ExtHR 220
Description:
Extension employees work with a variety of other employees, customers
and constituents. These working relationships can often bring about stress
and other heightened emotions, and cause unwarranted and sometimes
unacceptable behaviors and conversations to be expressed. It’s important to
be aware of the triggers that cause these emotional behaviors in yourself,
and more importantly to be aware of how these behaviors affect those with
whom you work. Knowing the impact you have on a fellow employee is valuable
in understanding why a certain work relationship might not be effective.
Just as helpful to achieving a successful work relationship is an understanding of what is going on in the other employee’s world and why s/he might be exhibiting certain behaviors.
