Agriculture employs 11.1% of the population in Howell County.  Agriculture and manufacturing constitute the economic base of Howell county.  Howell county's largest employment location quotient for 1995 was 2.58 in the agricultural sector.  This indicates that agriculture is almost three times as important in Howell than it is in the state of Missouri.   Total cash receipts for crops and livestock in 1997 was $50,152,000 according to 1999 Missouri Farm Facts.
