Extension Tax Prep & Education
National Project

CSREES-USDA, Cooperative Extension Service, and the Internal Revenue Service collaborate in a national initiative to increase the benefits obtained by low to moderate income families from the availability of free income tax assistance and financial education programs in rural and urban America.

The purpose of this website is to provide a one stop resource for states participating in the National Project.

Goals:

  • Increase the number of low to moderate income working families who use free income tax preparation services and claim the Earned Income Credit,
  • Maximize the value of tax refunds for EITC eligible families with children, and
  • Involve EITC recipients in Cooperative Extension financial education and asset building programs
