Eating From the Garden

Description: Program designed to provide school-aged children with a series of lessons in nutrition, plant science, hands-on gardening and environmental awareness.

Curriculum/program overview: Poor eating habits result in obesity among children. Children are eating less vegetables and fruits in their diet. Through nutrition and gardening activities, Eating From the Garden hopes to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables. With help from area partners and volunteers, the program also promotes healthier food choices, gardening knowledge and physical activity. This program is designed to provide school-aged children with a series of lessons in nutrition, plant science, hands-on gardening and environmental awareness.
