2000 HEED Fund Grant Success Stories
Economics

Easy |
 |
| With the assistance of a HEED Fund grant, elementary
and secondary school teachers in Caldwell County received access to a variety of
economics-based curricula and resources. Making informed economic decisions is an
important skill that often receives little attention in elementary and secondary school
settings. Rebecca Travnichek, Consumer and Family Economics Specialist, and Sherry Siever,
Youth Education Specialist, were the recipients of the HEED grant. They wanted to address
this need by enhancing the economic knowledge and experiences of K-12 students through
accurate and activity-oriented programs. With the HEED funds, they purchased several
economics-education programs and provided the opportunity for teachers to attend workshops
to instruct them about the curricula. Pictured is Sherry Siever with some of the economics
curricula. |
