Missouri Council for Activity
& Nutrition (MoCAN)
MoCAN works to implement Missouri’s Nutrition and Physical Activity Plan.
Currently meetings are held 2-3 times per year to implement work plans to
achieve the plan’s objectives, track outcomes and evaluate which efforts
are most effective.
The following MoCAN Work Groups are currently in place:
Missouri Foundation for Health — Healthy and Active Communities
The Healthy and Active Communities Initiative (H&AC) targets community-based
organizations with the specific objective of reaching populations who are
at increased risk of developing obesity, such as women and children, racial
and ethnic groups, and low-income individuals or families.
Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas
City
HCF supports local community partnerships that will increase opportunities
for physical activity and improve access to affordable healthy foods for
children and families through integrated changes in policies, norms, practices,
social supports and the physical environment.
