The Maltreatment and Adolescent Pregnancy
and Parenting Program (MAPPP) builds community awareness about the
prevalence of violence in the lives of young women.
MAPPP has been field-tested and evaluated
in community and workshop presentations by the Center on Adolescent
Sexuality, Pregnancy and Parenting at the University of
Missouri-Columbia.
MAPPP addresses three questions:
-
What is the
relationship between child maltreatment and later adolescent
pregnancy?
-
What are the factors
associated with maltreatment of pregnant adolescents?
-
What is the likelihood
that children of adolescent mothers will experience maltreatment?
|
Did You Know

 |
The average age when they were sexually abused was nine
years? |
 |
The average age of their abuser was 28 years? |
 |
Half of the abusers were family members? |
 |
Approximately 25% of teen mothers continue to report
being abused during their pregnancies? |
