MAPPP Workshops

Maltreatment and Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Program

A research-based community awareness program about the prevalence of violence in the lives of young women

Purpose of the Workshop :

To provide a comprehensive training on the prevalence of violence in the lives of young women and their children

Content of the Workshop :

  • Case study illustrating the life of a survivor or child sexual abuse 
  • Violence issues prior to and during adolescent pregnancy
  • Subsequent abuse in children of adolescent mothers
  • Research findings of the relationship between violence and adolescent pregnancy and parenting
  • How to develop community awareness activities on MAPPP

Workshops are designed for:

  • Agencies that work with pregnant and parenting adolescents
  • Educators and school administrators
  • Counselors
  • Community action agencies
  • Domestic violence workers
  • Health care providers
  • Child care providers
  • Child abuse workers
