One of our main objectives as Master Gardeners is to provide horticulture education & awareness to the citizens of southwest Missouri. Maintaining demonstration gardens is one major avenue toward achieving that goal.  We are proud of our gardens and our efforts to showcase living exhibits our of knowledge and experience.  If you are unable to stroll the gardens first hand, perhaps you will enjoy touring the gardens here on on website.  Either way, thank you for visiting our Gardens.

The Master Gardeners of Southwest Missouri, Greene County, volunteer thousands of hours each year toward maintaining the two demonstration gardens in Springfield:  The Nathanael Greene Demonstration Garden developed in cooperation with the Springfield/Greene County Parks Board; and Xeriscape Demonstration Garden developed in cooperation with the Parks Board and City Utilities of Springfield.  Neither of the Demonstration Gardens would be possible without the excellent participation and support we receive from the Parks Board and City Utilities.

There is nothing quite like actually seeing plants grow to help you decide what you may want to plant (or not plant!) in your yard.  Many plants and gardening techniques are displayed in the demonstration gardens.  Take a leisurely stroll through our gardens and enjoy your visit. Both gardens are free to the public.
