Expert Source Program (ESP)

The Expert Source Program (ESP) gives MU Extension council members and clients an opportunity to share with area news media the benefits they have gained from MU Extension programs. The purpose of an expert source program is to generate positive publicity for MU Extension and our county extension offices.

As part of ESP, local specialists and county program directors identify individuals who benefit from MU Extension and are willing to share that experience with journalists. Once in place, ESP should expand our use of volunteers in the community.

Benefits of ESP

1) This project has the potential to increase community volunteer participation with MU Extension in southwest Missouri by further engaging our council members and clients in explaining how educational programs from MU Extension have helped them and, therefore, helping to tell the MU Extension story.

2) This will provide a more visible example to extension councils and area specialists of the value of media relations in this region and the power to increase awareness of MU Extension programs which can lead to increased revenue and increased partnerships.

3) This program should also create more opportunities for positive mentions of MU Extension and our programs in the news media.
