Bozworth receives award from Buchanan endowment

This year's winner of the Buchanan Professional Development Award is Carole Bozworth, University of Missouri Extension family financial education specialist in Kansas City. Bozworth serves a 5-county area in west-central Missouri . She plans to use the award to attend the 2007 Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education's annual conference in November.

Bozworth has been with MU Extension since 1993. She grew up in the Kansas city area and has degrees from St. Mary University and Kansas State University . Her work with a variety of adult and youth audiences, currently focuses on areas that range from basic financial management to planning for long-term care, and working with highschoolers using the Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) Program .

The professional development award is funded by an endowment from retired extension and business leaders Pat and Tom Buchanan, provides $500 annually to help extension specialists enhance their skills, especially in the areas of financial education and business. Applications are due each year by March 15. This is the third year the award has been presented. Other winners have been Janet LaFon, an MU extension family financial education specialist located in Carthage , and Jackie Rasmussen, an MU Extension business development specialist in Camdenton.
