Prioritizing Your Time Part 4

Time is a unique resource in that everyone has 24 hours each day. How you use your time is a major factor in how you feel about your life. The best thing you can do is take charge of your time and invest yourself in those things that matter most in your life.

To be more effective with your time:

  • Set up a simple filing system. At home and at work you need a filing system so that you can find important papers when you need them. A simple system will make filing go faster and there will be less temptation to put filing off.

  • Break down large, overwhelming jobs into manageable pieces. Completing smaller steps keeps you motivated to finish the job.

  • Overcome the habit of putting things off. Determine what is the first step and set a time to begin.

  • Reward yourself when a major task is completed. A reward serves as a motivator but also acknowledgement that you are making effective use of your time.
