            Because there are low research and development costs, and marketing costs are minimal, store brands can cost less than the national brands. Consumer Reports tests over the years have found store brands are similar in quality to their pricier competitors. And that’s not surprising since supermarket brands are often made by such companies as Heinz, Nestle, Con Agra, and Reynolds. About 60% of shoppers in the Consumer Reports survey were very satisfied or completely satisfied with the store brands they bought. And their perception of the quality of those products has risen since the survey was conducted four years ago.
