Tiers of the food system
The food system has been conceptualized as having five tiers based on marketing arrangements. The tiers range from homegrown foods to globally distributed foods that originated in numerous places. Click on a tier to learn more about it.
The Tiers of the Food System concept originated at the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems at the University of Wisconsin.
