Coiled Baskets with Joi Chupp
Since our emphasis is on spinning and we all have lots of trials and sometimes errors, what do we do with them? Save them in a notebook or use them? Coiled baskets are a great way to use all those samples (or any other handspun yarns). There are sooo many different things we can make with this method too. I have made trivets and a purse and cup snuggies etc. The list is limitless.

The technique is similar to regular coiled baskets, but we use a central core and yarn. As you learn you will come up with ideas for variations. And the colors we can get with our yarns and dyes just beat anything else out there.

All supplies will be provided, but if you have a favorite yarn you would like to use, please feel free to bring it along. Also bring your imagination and lets see if together we can't come up with even more great ideas.

9-12 noon Beginning Tablet Weaving, The Basics with Bonnie Steele
Students will be making a tablet woven band featuring a flock of sheep. Students will need to bring scissors and a flat shuttle. I will have beautiful shuttles, handmade by a local craftsman, for purchase. The looms will be pre-warped. I have six beginner looms for loan during the class. I will have a seventh loom set up to teach the class how to read patterns, thread the tablets and set up the loom. I will show how to tie the warp so that it can be taken off the student looms and placed onto their own loom at the end of the weekend. Students will take home pre-warped tablets, a large, knitting stitch holder and an exclusive, non-published pattern.
