Felt
a purse with Matt Nowak "Make a handbag using wet felting techniques
and using a resist to form the pocket with absolutely no seams. We will use white wool as the
basic support fiber and you will "paint" your felt canvas with your
own choices of dyed wool that I will supply. I will also bring
examples of my own work that will hopefully inspire you to be
creative with your designs. To save time, I will provide the felt
rope handles, but I will also demonstrate how you can make them at
home."
Equipment to bring: two or three large bath
towels, at least one leg from an old pair of panty hose or
stockings, at least nine square feet (3'x3') of sheer curtain or mosquito netting
(The towels are critical to keep the area dry, but I will provide
for the other items if you do not bring them.)

Lumpy-Bumpy
Designer Yarn with
Saundra
Lunceford
Lincoln
colored wool is often varied in colors within color and the students
will learn to spin lovely yarn that is unique and different as a
designer yarn that is lumpy-bumpy or irregular and delightful to use
in projects where there is a need for texture rather than smooth
yarn. Silver, gray and charcoal gradations of color within Lincoln
locks of wool will be used to design and spin this yarn. Lincoln
wool has a marvelous sheen not found in all wools and has a soft
handle to go with the lovely texture of the wool.
Beginning spinners may take this class as well as intermediate and
advanced spinners.

"Set Yourself Free With Scissors" with Carol Hagen
Learn to overcome the taboo against cutting fiber and
discover a whole new dimension in spinning! Are you
tired of looking at your crazy overspun, lumpy beginner
yarn? Do you have a few yards of some really special
yarn left over from a project, but not enough to make
anything? Did you try spinning a sample of fiber and
just hate the yarn? Don't throw it out! Use it to create
a new, exciting yarn!
You will need to bring your spinning wheel or drop
spindle, a pair of scissors and hand cards. (We may have
room for a drum carder or two). But leave your
inhibitions at home.
Spinning materials will be provided, but feel free to
bring along some leftovers or bits and bobs of ribbon
and lace from the old tin of sewing notions. We're gonna
let the creative juices flow!
