4-H LIFE is a family strengthening program to address the needs of children of incarcerated parents or family members. 4-H LIFE provides a strong, healthy and nurturing family environment during scheduled visitations at correction centers using the 4-H club model. 

A multi-disciplinary team of University of Missouri Extension educators and their partners guide the program.  4-H LIFE currently operates at three state correctional centers in Missouri:

• Algoa Correctional Center, Jefferson City
• Potosi Correctional Center, Mineral Point
• Women's Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center, Vandalia

Community Service Activities
Mail Kit
Groups or individual put together simple decorated boxes with writing supplies to benefit children of incarcerated parents and family members.

Carry On Suitcase
Groups or individuals put together suitcases filled with personal care items for women, teens and children who come to battered women's shelters.

Self Study
A web-based self study about CYFAR and University of Missouri Extension community-based programs for at-risk children and their families.
Missouri CYFAR Self-Study

The 4-H LIFE Program was established with support from the University of Missouri (MU) Extension, 4-H Center for Youth Development, Human Environmental Sciences Extension, and the National Children, Youth and Families at Risk (CYFAR) Initiative. Through MU Extension, CYFAR makes available educational materials and opportunities in the form of publications, videos, satellite conferences, professional development, and the CYFERnet website.
