Do you Suspect your Teen is Abusing Alcohol?
Did you know that alcohol related car crashes were the leading cause of death for young Americans (ages 16-24 years old) in 1999? Or that the typical college student spends more on alcohol than textbooks?
According to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University there are signs if your teen is using drugs, including alcohol. Too often parents donít think it could happen to their child. Donít ignore the signs.

So what is a parent Ė or a concern adult, for that matter- to do? Talk to the teen! If you need help with this, contact your doctor, school social worker or clergy member, local hospital or county medical health center. Keep in mind that the moment of disclosure is not just a moment to discipline. It should open a conversation of understanding and bond by working together to solve the problem.
