Low Cost Family Activities
Do you ever wonder how to enjoy some quality family time without spending a fortune? Here’s some ideas for your family to consider…
Visit the Department of Conservation’s nature centers. Many times these centers have free family activities scheduled weekly. Request to be put on their mailing list . Enjoy nature with your family.
How about spending some time making a good old-fashioned collage? Find your old magazines, pull out the scissors and glue, choose a theme and get started. A few possible themes could be "our dream vacation", or "what do you want to be when you grow up?" – this is fun even for the adults in the group. Dream, imagine, create it! Post your creations by your front door to remind everyone of their aspirations.
Another low cost family activity is having paper airplane or paper boat races. Stop by the library to get ideas on how to design your plane or ship. These can be very elaborate or quite simple. Which one goes the farthest? Which plane flies the highest? Don’t forget to check out books on kites too. Most kites can be made very inexpensively with some newspaper, string and sticks. Try it out!
When you’re at the library don’t forget to do a quick database search for books on family activities. Put in any type of hobby, craft, whatever and see what pops up. And don’t forget to check out the programs at the library offered for families.
Spending time with your loved ones really does pay off…it doesn’t matter how much time, just make it quality time with your family.
