Adapted by the Environmental Soil Science Teaching Program, University of Missouri
This 22- by 17-inch poster features photographs of nutrient deficiencies in
six important crop plants: corn, soybeans, rice, cotton, wheat and alfalfa.
It also includes a diagram of five steps in plant tissue testing. The back of
the poster has a laboratory exercise for teachers to use.
The learning objectives
for the exercise are to:
- Become familiar with the essential plant nutrients
and their functions in plants
- Recognize characteristic visual symptoms of
nutrient deficiency in plants
- Learn about hydroponic systems and the
use of nutrient solutions.
