Morningglory, bigroot (Ipomoea pandurata)

It regenerates new growth from a large underground tuber. It is distinguished by its tubular, white flowers with red centers. Like the annual morningglories, its leaves are alternate and heart - shaped but are larger and more robust. Its stems, in the lower portions of the plant, can become woody with age. Seeds are flattened and are surrounded by a fringe of hairs that aid in their dispersal.
