Meeting called to order, Sept. 6, 2011, 10:05 a.m.
Minutes from Aug. 1, 2011--Bev M. moved the minutes be approved. Bob seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report--Bob Schultheis—
Regular checking account $582.74
Money Market $6,011.04
Correction on life membership from last month. Report is correct—79 members
Outstanding deposit of dues--$125.00
No savings transfer made yet to complete the year.
Bev M. moved to accept the report as presented. David H. seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Committee Reports
Annalist report—Janet LaFon—no report and not on the call
National ESP update—Mark Stillwell—no report and not on the call
Membership—David Hill—one new member, potential new members for next year
Include something in next newsletter for members to renew or join.
Some write one check at Galaxy…ESP treasurer works with the UMEA treasurer
Board members encouraged to pay their dues!
ESP Dues are $65 for new members; $60 for renewing and returning inactive members ($40 goes onto national, plus $5 one-time initiation fee for new members )
Bob suggested that he gets a membership form with their dues rather than just sending a check.
Dave will contact those with 3 years experience regarding membership.
Karma suggested that the regional offices could help provide names of 3 years or more service who are not members.
Johanna and Dave will send out a message to everyone.

· By October 11, notice will be sent out to membership—3 weeks prior to fall meeting. Changes are listed on the website at http://extension.missouri.edu/esp/.
Professional Development—Meridith Berry
http://causematters.com Charges $3500 for a single program, $5000 for two sessions, plus travel expenses. Michelle Payn-Knoper. Willing to pursue for Galaxy in 2012. Would want two sessions—general session and an ESP session.
Maybe apply for national ESP professional development award, $1,000.
What is Galaxy budget?
Beverly suggested we share information with the Galaxy planning committee. They do get funding from administration.
ESP president does sit on the Galaxy planning committee.
Meridith encouraged board to check out the website for this speaker prior to the next board meeting. Let her know. She would then pursue ESP professional development grant and work with other avenues suitable for Galaxy 2012.
Bob—professional development not included in current budget, the board could designate funds for professional development from the reserve (money market) fund.
Bev suggested that Meridith go ahead and apply for the ESP award. Also, work with UMEA and administration to match.
Bob reviewed financial report, in 2006 line itemed ESP Visioning Session, $1000, for professional development.
Those on the conference call agreed this is a good idea.
Loan and Fellowship—Beverly Maltsberger
· Applications were due recently. Bev has not heard from Lisa Wallace.
Life Member/Retiree—Barb Casady, not on the call, report provided.
Sandy Stegall will be giving leadership to retiree meetings beginning in the spring of 2012.
Fall retiree meetings—Sept. 28, Columbia; Oct. 6, Lamar; Oct. 7, Springfield; Oct. 12, Gallatin; Oct. 21, Sedalia; Oct. 27, Jackson

Global Issues—Mary Simon Leuci
Has contacted today via email the following to request their service on the committee: Marsha Alexander, Susan Tharp, Linda Rellergert, B.J. Eavy, Shelley Bush Rowe, and Julie Middleton.
Those who will be at national conference, national global issues committee will be taping vignettes about international experiences and how it has added to their extension experience and programming. Encourage Missouri participation in the taping. This is a break out session Oct. 11, 4-5 p.m.
Moving forward with opportunities with University of Western Cape in Africa. October 20, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. CST (3 p.m. in Cape Town) Webinar. Topic: Food Insecurity; another webinar planned in the spring on sports and community engagement. Also working on an exchange with South Africa not unlike the Global Leadership Exchange with Thailand. We just received notice this morning that we were not awarded grant funding for GLE this year by Department of State (in part an outcome of reduced federal budget).
Public Issues—Mark Stewart—no report and not on the call
Nominations—Mary Anne Patten—not on call and report provided.
· Looking for president-elect (campus) and treasurer candidates.
Recognition and Awards—Vera Massey—Not on call and report provided
· Has sent out reminder about award nominations. Has received one complete application. Has notes others are working. Deadline is next week.
Courtesy and Memorials—Wilma Jean Lower—no report and not on the call.
· Bob said that the financial report tab under membership shows those who have passed away and their ESP membership status.

National ESP Conference—Oct. 10-13, 2011—Syracuse, NY
ESP newsletter—Karma will work on it after September 15th. Life Members receive their newsletter through USPS. Bob has the labels and the template for the newsletter and will provide to Karma.
Any items for the newsletter, send to Karma by Sept. 15, 2011. (Auction items, membership, Galaxy, bylaw update, other committee reports or information, etc.)
Galaxy Auction—Bev
· Silent auction. Donations of items welcome. Can designate proceeds to specific organization. Help promote this as a fund raising opportunity.
