Call to order: by President Mary Anne Patten at 7:20 am

Minutes Pat Snodgrass moved to approve the minutes, Tony DeLong seconded the motion. The minutes were approved as posted.
Treasurer’s report – reported by Bob Schultheis treasurer:
$541.23 in the regular checking account
$6842.82 in the commercial money market account
Outstanding deposits of $2,520.00
Outstanding checks of $48.07
Total operating funds available $9,855.98
Gordon Carriker moved and Julie Middleton seconded and the motion carried to approve the treasurer’s report.
Annalist report – Janet LaFon asked that folks get any historical documents to her for the official records.
National ESP update – Mark Stillwell is currently serving as NC Regional Vice President and is on the ballot for 2nd Vice President. Nationally ESP has 2800 members and 3500 life members. Slightly down over the last few years, they are budgeting to be down by 10% next year. There are opportunities to serve on national committees and in leadership roles. There are funds available nationally to attend national meetings. They are continuing to work on growing the development fund – it is currently at about $350,000. National ESP meeting Oct 12 – 15 Jackson Hole, WY over 200 registered.
Membership – David Hill – a written report was provided. Membership emails have been sent out. Had eight non-renewals last year. Remind folks about renewing.
Professional Development report – Pat Snodgrass – we didn’t receive a national award and the new chair would appreciate thoughts and ideas.
Loan and Fellowship – Beverly Maltsberger – 5 ESP members received funding this year – don’t forget it is available.
Life Member/Retiree report – Barb Casady - The retiree meetings are coming up this fall, you are welcome to attend, dates in the insider.
Global issues – Mary Anne reported for Mary Simon Leuci – Thailand relations are still vibrant and a possibility for professional development. ITV seminars are coming up with the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. Contact Mary Leuci if you want additional information about either.
Public Issues – Sandy Stegall – Legislative Day will be February 24th. 75 new legislators to bring up to speed on what we do. There isn’t a banquet the evening before this year, it will be at a different event. Stakeholder relations website is updated and helpful for those interested.
Nominations – Barb Casady – The President-elect, secretary, and annalist offices were to be filled this year. A slate of officers were provided:
President-elect, Karma Metzgar.
Secretary, Rhonda Gibler.
Annalist, Janet LaFon
President’s Report – Mary Anne – acknowledged the work of the committees. She noted upcoming attendance at the national meeting. Two individuals are presenting at the meeting.
Thanked the board members.

Initiation of new members – David Hill led the induction of 4 new members - Becky Simpson, Susan Henson (not present), Bob McNary, Clara Green.
Courtesy & Memorials – Barb Casady for Wilma Jean Lower led a reading to honor deceased members.
Installation of new officers – Barb Casady led ceremony:
New President’s Report – Johanna Reed Adams thanked folks for the opportunity to serve. Quoted an item from a founding member of ESP from 1922. We have to be extra diligent to carrying out these ideals. Encourages folks to watch the YouTube video of the Extension workers creed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtJ_Ca1oWvY.
