Call to Order:   President Jo Turner called the Centra meeting to order on August 26^th at 9:30 a.m.

In attendance:  Van Ayers, Bob Schultheis, Cathy Allen, Barb Casady, Bev Coberly, Nancy Flood, Roxanne Miller, Jim Ollar, Pat Snodgrass and Jo Turner

Minutes – Minutes from the May 20^th 2005 Centra meeting were approved as posted on the ESP webpage.

Treasurers Report – The treasurer’s report was approved as submitted.

            Regular Checking Account              $    679.20

            Money Market Account                     $3,779.94

            Available operating funds:               $4,459.14

Treasurer Bob Schultheis, pointed out the account balance is up due to the $1,000 mini‑grant that will be used towards professional development.   No outstanding checks or deposits at this time.

Committee Reports

• Awards Committee – Rebecca is actively seeking award nominees.  Sherry Kemp has been nominated for the Field of Extension award.  Applications are due September 12 for ESP awards.  Pat Snodgrass is also serving as Chair of the Extension Awards committee.  Pat stated that the committee is currently taking applications for Extension performance awards.  Applications are available on the web and ESP website.  Applications are due Sept. 1 for Extension awards.
   
• Loan and Fellowship Committee – Jim Ollar asked what was being done to grow the Loan and Fellowship fund.  Jo suggested the committee think about promoting and growing the fund.  Jim & Pat agreed to work on promotion.  Flyers will be prepared and distributed at the retirees meeting.
  
  Nancy Flood proposed a special fund to honor Tom Henderson on his retirement.  Jo will seek Tom’s permission to honor him w/ a “fun”draiser to build the loan and fellowship fund.  Van Ayers seconded the motion.  No discussion.  Motion passed.
   

• Membership – There are currently 52 active members.  Roxanne Miller will be putting together a flyer promoting ESP for Annual Conference.  Board members were asked to send a statement to Roxanne as to why they are members of ESP.  Jo pointed out that the ESP National website has great templates and sample brochures and flyers.  ESP will also be having a booth at Annual Conference.  Roxanne will be heading up the booth with assistance from Nancy and Barb.  The booth will be open from 9:30 to 11:00 on opening day.
  
  The ESP membership meeting will be held Wednesday of Annual Conference from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. at Stoney Creek during breakfast.  Jo will make arrangements for a meeting room.
   

• Memorials/Courtesy – Wilma Jean agreed to present a memorial service at the opening session of annual conference.  She also needs additional information on several individuals who have passed.  Jo agreed to help contact Diane Dews for information regarding employment dates, locations and titles.
  
  Barb asked if there was a minimum length of time that someone must be employed with Extension to be honored. It was decided that there was not a specified length of time and individuals do not have to be a member of ESP.
   
• Professional Development – MO received the $1,000 National ESP mini grant.  The grant stated that the funds would be used for a joint speaker at annual conference.  Jo indicated there would not be time for a keynote speaker at annual conference this year.  It was decided to look at other avenues to use the grant money for a program/presentation on futuring.  Nancy, Barb and Jim will explore possibilities of utilizing the grant.
   
• Retirement – Jim Ollar reported that the schedule for retirees meeting will be announced in the next newsletter.  The Central region’s meeting was moved due to a conflict with Annual Conference.  Jim and John Parker are coordinating the Retiree’s session at Annual Conference and will encourage contributions to the Loan and Fellowship fund.
   
• Nominating – Beverly Coberly reported the following nomination for 2006.

  Nancy Flood moved to accept the slate as presented.  Barb Casady seconded the motion.  Motion approved.
  
  Beverly reported the election will be completed electronically ahead of time and the installation of officers will take place at Annual Conference.  An invitation and ballot will be included in the ESP newsletter for retirees.

Old Business  

Nancy will work with Beverly to collect bios from nominees to include in the newsletter.  The newsletter will be available September 15^th.  All information for the newsletter should be sent to Nancy one week prior.

New Business 

ESP will not be holding an ice cream social this year at annual conference, as time does not allow.

Nancy Flood asked if monetary support was available for someone to attend the National ESP meeting.  Bob was unavailable to answer the question.  It was requested that it be placed in the minutes and will be followed up on.
