Minutes of the
Epsilon Sigma Phi Board Meeting
January 17, 2003
(Via Teleconference)
Call to order: President Ina Linville called the conference call to order at 3:20 p.m.
Present:
In attendance were: Ina
Linville, Bev Coberly, Bob Schultheis, Pat Snodgrass, Eileen Yager, Wilma Jean
Lower, Barb Casady.
The minutes from the past meeting were read. Pat Snodgrass moved that minutes be approved.
It was 2nd and passed.
Treasurers
Report
Bob reported that the account has been transferred
from the Mizzou Credit Union in Columbia to the Metropolitan National Bank of
Marshfield. The ESP Taxpayer I.D.
Number is 20-2011515. The balance in the checking account is $600.00 and the
balance in the commercial money market account $3,466.14, for a total of
$4,066.14.
The current membership for the 2003-year is at 22
active members and 117 life members.
Barb Casady moved to accept the Treasurers report as
presented. It was 2nd
and passed.
Committee
Reports
Awards
Rebecca Travnichek will chair the committee.
Karen Funkenbush is the past chair.
Loan and Fellowship
Pat Snodgrass will chair the committee.
Pat reported that she would ask each region and the campus to appoint
a person to serve on the committee. They
will promote the opportunities through the Weekly News and the ESP
newsletter. The application is
on the website and awards are reviewed monthly.
Membership
Eileen Yager is the chairperson. She
reported that the committee needs to approach those who havent renewed
their membership for the new year. By-laws
indicate that the secretary is responsible for distributing certificates to
new and life members.
Memorials/Courtesy
Wilma Jean Lower is the chairperson.
Wilma Jean provided a listing of the Extension staff that passed away
since October,2002 through the current date.
At the state level we recognize all people (staff or faculty) who
have passed away. At the National level they recognize only those people who
were ESP members.
Professional Improvement -
Need to locate a chairperson. Suggestions
were made on topics and opportunities that ESP might be able to offer
there is a great need to keep ESP in front of the members, in a positive
light so that members see the benefits of membership.

National
level update on federal funding
A
retreat with a program focused on teamwork, portable challenge and fun
maybe even a baseball game. Time
to be together face-to-face and have fun and relax.
Utilize
ITV to do team building.
Retirement Jim Ollar indicated
interest in being chair.
Old
Business
National Endowment Barb Casady reported that the National ESP is
initiating an endowment campaign with the goal raising $500,000 by the
Galaxy meeting in September. The
group discussed how Missouri ESP would be involved.
It was decided that we would send out information in the newsletter
and send brochures to Life Members so that all members have an
opportunity to give.
Professional Development Wilma
Jean reported on the National ESP Meeting in Lexington, KY last fall, she
also gave an update on the 75th anniversary of ESP on the
national level, and the Galaxy meeting to be held in Salt Lake City,
September 21-25, 2003.
New
Business
Budget Bob Schultheis. presented the proposed budget for the 2003 year. Bev C. moved that we approve the budget based on 50 active members with a deficit of $187. The motion was 2nd and passed.
Bev Coberly and Bob Schultheis. will represent ESP at the JCEP meeting to be held in Kansas City, Feb. 2-4, 2003.
Newsletter Dates were set for the
upcoming year. Bev C. will be
the editor. Articles should be
sent to her by the deadline dates listed below.
