Expanding horizons

MU Extension offers university-level evening and online courses and degrees. Students in grades three through 12 can take independent study courses and even earn a diploma online.

Scholarships for nontraditional students

Two scholarship programs at the University of Missouri support adult students returning to finish their education.

  • The Osher Re-entry Scholarship endowment will award $50,000 in scholarships, a maximum of $2,000 per student, to cover educational fees during the 2009-2010 academic year. Students who are pursuing their first undergraduate degree after a cumulative five-year interruption* in their studies are eligible to apply.
  • The Doris P. Littrell Scholarship Program will provide two $500 awards to recipients for the 2009-2010 academic year. Applicants must be over age 23 and be pursuing a master's or doctoral degree offered through MU Direct: Continuing and Distance Education.
* The interruption in studies does not have to be consecutive and may include a gap between graduating from high school and entering college.

The Osher Re-entry Scholarship application deadline has been extended to May 1.
The Doris P. Littrell Scholarship application deadline is May 1.
