This online course has been designed specifically for Extension advisers, agents, and specialists who will be teaching the fundamental issues of plant biosecurity management to agricultural producers, workers, and other appropriate individuals. Lesson 1 covers the foundations of plant biosecurity and agroterrorism threats. Lesson 2 is an overview of the four phases of plant biosecurity management and producersí roles. The remaining four lessons focus on preparing for a biosecurity event, appropriately responding and recovering from a biosecurity event, and mitigating the likelihood of an event. Each offers you step-by-step instructions on how to work with producers. Course materials include presentations, readings, hyperlinks to Web sites, case studies, and numerous other resources to help you connect the course content to your professional practice. Companion teaching materials (visual aids, worksheets, and handouts) are also provided to support your Extension education programming efforts.
Schedule for Completing the Course
Because this course is designed for working professionals, EDEN recognizes the need for individuals to work at their own pace. Therefore you do not have to complete the course all in one setting. Instead, you may start, stop, and resume your studies as your schedule permits. The course is made available to you 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
