Many land grant Universities offer Integrated Pest
Management (IPM) research information and guides for producers, on methods
to monitor and control pests affecting a variety of crops. The University
of Maryland’s site also offers information on the “National Roadmap

Although intended for APHIS’ PPQ specialists, this
manual provides detailed information on the emergency procedures PPQ
employees must follow to evaluate and respond to confirmed reports of
a new plant pest outbreak. Chapter 3, Authority for Emergency Projects,
Chapter 5, Roles and Responsibilities, and Chapter 13, Public Affairs,
may be especially helpful as background information for teaching producers
what to expect from APHIS following confirmation of a plant biosecurity
problem.
