Mission
The mission of University of Missouri Extension—a
partnership of the University of Missouri campuses, Lincoln University,
the people of Missouri through county extension councils, and the
Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service of the U.S.
Department of Agriculture—is to:
"Serve Missouri by extending the research-based
knowledge and problem-solving resources of the University of Missouri
and Lincoln University to focus on high-priority needs of people
throughout the state."
Partnership
We partner with local, state, and federal resources.
-
Local
University of Missouri Extension centers are headquartered in
nearly all of Missouri’s 114 counties and the city of St. Louis.
Local government provides some financial support for each extension
center. Local county extension councils composed of elected and
appointed citizens guide educational programming in each county.
-
State
University of Missouri Extension is a state-wide
organization that links you to the resources of Missouri’s two
land-grant universities:
University of Missouri
(Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla and St. Louis)
Lincoln University (Jefferson
City).
Citizen Involvement
-
County Extension Councils are composed
of elected and appointed citizens who guide local educational
programming in each county in East Central Region. County council
members are local partners in the entire educational process, helping
to assess local needs, implement programs and evaluate outcomes.
- The
East
Central Missouri Regional Extension Council is an advisory group that
includes representatives from each county extension council within the
region. Each county council selects its own representatives. Meetings
are held quarterly at the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus.
The East Central Regional Extension Council is part of a larger
statewide organization known as the
University of Missouri Extension State Council.
