Overview
Cooking and preparing food for a person
with diabetes can be challenging. Many people have questions
about nutritional considerations—whether they're men or women,
young or old, married or widowed, friends or families.
Eat Well, Be Well with Diabetes
is designed to answer those questions. An updated version of
MU Extension's Dining with Diabetes class, this three- or
four-class series provides practical information and builds
skills. Whether you have diabetes, or you know someone with
diabetes, this class will teach you about:
-
healthy food choices for
people with diabetes
-
healthy versions of
familiar foods that are easy to prepare
-
cooking techniques that use
new or more healthful ingredients
-
self-management skills to
avoid diabetes complications.
Each two-hour class includes:
-
nutrition
instruction
-
cooking demonstrations
-
food tasting
-
light
physical activity.
The class also stresses diabetes
self-management and working with a health care team. Participants
receive copies of recipes prepared in the class.
Important:
-
Eat Well, Be
Well with
Diabetes is designed to enhance,
not
