Overview
All types of people have questions
about managing their diabetes and how to prepare food for a
person with diabetes.
Eat Well, Be Well with Diabetes
is a 4-session diabetes self-care class that includes:
What to expect
As a participant in the class you will:

learn how to better take care of
your diabetes through nutrition and a more active lifestyle
-
learn to plan and prepare easy
meals that are healthy and delicious

sample new healthy recipes.
Class content
Classes are 2 hours long and include:

nutrition
instruction
-
cooking demonstrations
-
food tasting
-
light
physical activity.
The class also stresses diabetes
self-management and working with a health care team. Participants
receive copies of recipes prepared in the class.
Fee
The course fee may vary, depending on
whether another organization co-sponsors the class with
University of Missouri Extension. Typically, the fee is
$30 to $40 per person, with a reduced fee of $45 for two people
wanting to share materials to
cover food and notebook costs.

replace, the diabetes education
that is delivered by qualified health professionals.

provide individualized meal plans for participants.
