Professional background

Roxanne T. Miller has more than 30 years of public relations, media relations, communications and marketing experience. She joined University of Missouri Extension in April 1994 as a Civic Communications Specialist. She manages media relations and communications/marketing for MU Extension in the St. Louis area and East Central Missouri. Among her varied duties are Web development, publications, social media and photography.
Previously, Roxanne managed special events and produced publications for St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis and served as a health care communications consultant with other St. Louis area hospitals. Her experience also includes managing media relations and communications for a federal community action agency in San Jose, CA, and working in aerospace public affairs for NASA Ames Research Center near San Francisco.
She is a member of several professional organizations, including Community Service Public Relations Council (CSPRC), Missouri Professional Communicators-NFPW, and Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA). She also is a member of Epsilon Sigma Phi (professional extension association) and University of Missouri Extension Association.
Roxanne earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Journalism at San Jose State University and a Master of Public Relations (MPR) at the University of Southern California. Currently she is a PhD Candidate in Adult Education at University of Missouri-St. Louis. Her research focus is workplace education and the use of MU Extension’s Tackling the Tough Skills curriculum to teach soft skills to corporate healthcare workers and managers.
