Rules & Regulations

 

1)    This show will be open to all 4-H and FFA members and junior members in the state of Missouri.

2)     All animals must meet health requirements for exhibit at fairs in 2008 as required by the Missouri Department of Agriculture.   All exhibitors will be expected to present health papers, registration papers and Show Me Quality Assurance Card prior to show.

 3)    All animals must be owned by the dates listed on the following schedule 

        ANIMAL OWNERSHIP DATES

Market Lambs---June 1

Breeding Sheep---July 1

Goats---June 1

Dogs---April 1

Horses---May 1

Dairy---June 1

Swine---May 10

Boars---since far rowing

Rabbits---June 1

Meat Pen---5-10 weeks before  show

Poultry---5-10 weeks before show

 and be enrolled in a 4-H project or FFA farming program. Instructors and leaders are responsible.

4)    Animals shown in Beef, Hog and Sheep purebred breeding classes must be registered in the name of the exhibitor.  Grade and Crossbred females will show together in each class.

5)    Animals shown in the breeding classes may not show in the market classes.

6)    EXHIBITORS FURNISH OWN FEED AND BEDDING!

7)    Pen and stall fees to be paid with entry.  Stall and pen fees will be $2.00 per head on hogs, sheep and goats; $3.00 per head on cattle; and horse entry fee: $5.00 per horse.

8)    Each exhibitor is limited to 2 entries per breeding class, 4 steers, 4 hogs, 4 market lambs, and 4 wet hers.

9)    The fair organization will not be responsible for accidents.

10)    All judging on Danish System

11)    Show schedule:

        Goats should be in place by 800 am on Thursday, July 24th.

        Goats show to follow the Sheep Show, Thursday, July 24, released after show.

        All Goats penned in barn.

        Sheep should be in place be 8:00 am on Thursday, July 24th.

       All Sheep penned in barn.

        Sheep show is at 9:00 am , Thursday, July 24, released after show.

        Horses and Ponies should be in place by 4:30 pm on Thursday, July 24th.

        Horse Show at 6:00 pm, Thursday, July 24, released after show.

        Hogs should be in place by 8:00 am on Friday, July 25.

        Hogs show at 10:00 am, Friday, July 25, released after show.

        Beef in place at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 26th.

        Beef Show at 7:00 pm, Saturday, July 26, released at end of show.

12)    Owner must show.  If owner has more than one animal in a class, he or she may use another person.

13)    Rules will be strictly enforced except when prior arrangement has been made.

14)    The Jamesport Junior Livestock Show Committee will handle any situation not covered in these rules.

15)    In the event of behavior deemed rude, disrespectful, or unsportsmanlike, to a judge, another exhibitor or a fair board member, by a exhibitor or their agent.  The said exhibitor and their agent will be asked to leave the show and the exhibitors premium will be withheld.

16)    Grievance and complaints will only be accepted if in writing and signed.  These must be submitted to the chairperson before the show starts.  Fair Board decisions are final.

 1)  Miniature mules & Miniature horses are welcome to show in showmanship classes.

2)  In each of the riding classes, Jamesport Saddle Club provides ribbons to 5 places.  They also sponsor the "High Point rider" award in each age division.

3)  Different horses, may be used for different events, but a horse may only be ridden once per event.

4)  HELMETS MUST BE WORN FOR ALL SPEED EVENTS, CLASSES 68-82.

SPECIAL AWARDS

SHOWMANSHIP

Junior Showmanship Awards will be presented in each of the following divisions: Beef, Swine, Sheep, Goats and Horses.

 

RANDY MINNICK MEMORIAL AWARD

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Minnick and Mark will present an award to the Outstanding First Year Exhibitor at the Jamesport Junior Livestock Show in memory of their son and brother, Randy.

 

FRANK NOWLAND MEMORIAL AWARD

 

This award will be presented for the Outstanding Livestock display at the fair.  Basis for judging will be 1/3 showmanship, 1/3 quality of animals, 1/3 sportsmanship and conduct.

 

Selection Committee for these awards will consist of personnel appointed by the Fair Board.
