J. Milton Turner, An American Hero
Readers of all ages will enjoy J. Milton Turner, An American Hero. This 8 1/2 x 11, well written, beautifully illustrated, four color, hard cover book covers the life of James Milton Turner, a towering figure in advancing human rights, especially in the state of Missouri.
Dedicating his entire life to freedom, equality and the value of a good education, It also pays homage to Turner, a man who founded 22 schools in Missouri and who fought tirelessly his entire life for freedom and equality. At the end of the book, the author has added a series of questions meant to encourage additional learning and discussions about and the time in which he lived. Cooper County Healthy Lifestyle Initiative
The Cooper County Healthy Lifestyles Initiative (CHeLI) vision is to create healthy communities that support the availability of healthy, affordable, locally produced food and safe, accessible physical activity. To achieve this, they work with families, young people, community members, agricultural producers, business leaders, health care providers and others. Through collaboration, CHeLI creates sustainable approaches to address preventable health issues like overweight, obesity, sedentary lifestyle and related diseases, create positive behavior change and impact lifelong health within the community.
