Focus on Kids
Three out of five marriages end
in divorce in Missouri; many involve children. The
impact of divorce may linger for years, especially for children.
Research indicates that high levels of pre- and post-divorce conflict between
parents can result in negative outcomes for children.
Focus On Kids is a 2½-hour educational program that helps
divorcing parents understand the importance of
being involved with their children. Sessions provide information on
the developmental and emotional needs of children and adolescents
and advice on co-parenting. The program was developed by University of
Missouri-Columbia faculty in the College of Human Environmental
Sciences Department of Human Development and Family Studies.
