Welcome and Introductions: Regional Council Chair Sherri Kempf called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Approval of January 23, 2006 Minutes: Sherri asked everyone to look over the January 23, 2006 meeting minutes. Jo Warnke made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Jayne Wehmeyer seconded motion. Motion carried.
Mark reported that two current open positions in Pettis County Ag and Cole County Horticulture would be filled. He reported that he is optimistic in having interviews for the positions. If any council member knows of interested individuals, to please let him know.
Legislative Day – March 15th – Communicating with your Legislators – Sherri Kempf
Council members were reminded that March 15th is Legislative Day. This is a fantastic opportunity to let our reps know how important Extension is and thank them for their support.
Youth Serving on Extension Councils – Steve Henness, 4-H Youth Development Specialist
Steve Henness presented a Power Point Presentation on findings from a recent survey and focus group results on how beneficial young adults are to Extension. The focus group portion of the project involved asking groups of youth (ages 15-17) and young adults (18-25) questions about past, present, and potential involvement with county extension councils.
Steve informed members that working together, we can get more accomplished. Two areas that are very important are:
Surveys were sent out and approximately 50 were returned. Some of the findings are:
More than one-third surveyed would like to see increased youth participation.
Up to 20 councils will be selected through an application process in March 2006 to pilot this project.
Missouri is one of three states that are receiving funding to experiment with this project.
Mark presented a Power Point presentation on the Plan of Work cycle.
Mark reported that County Program Plans would be developed over the new several months. He wanted members to be aware that the process is coming “down the line.”
Mark also reported that a huge amount of data will be forthcoming and members need to read part of it. Need to tell people how important Extension is.
Council members present reported on their respective counties election process – what worked and ways to improve.
Regional Council Election of Officers – Report of the Nomination Committee – Jayne Wehmeyer and Wayne McReynolds
Jayne and Wayne reported the following slate of nominations for Regional Council Officers:
Nominations were open to the floor. There being no more nominations Belinda Flick moved to accept the slate of officers and Amy Schmid seconded the motion. Motion carried.
It was also reported that H.C. Russell would be the Regional Council’s representative appoint to the State Council.
The next Regional County Meeting will be held on Monday, June 5th at the Boone County Extension Office beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Dana Binder made a motion to adjourn. Amy Schmid seconded the motion.
